Please share out about the camp DEAI assessment. What was it and how did it go? What data do you think will be helpful to future programs? What would you change about the assessment if you did it again.
Hello! My name is Nicholas and I am a junior at the University of Arkansas studying biomedical engineering.
My name is Heather Drouse and I’m one of the Summer Programs Interns this year at the Amazeum. I’m a senior creative writing major at the University of Arkansas.
What is your favorite moment from the internship? My favorite moments this summer have included being able to bring my dog Bentley to camps. The kids always love being to interact with a live animal, and my dog absolutely loves kids. Bentley shows them all of his tricks and often dressed up based on the theme of the week in which he appears. For example, for the Mythical Tales camp, Bentley dressed up as a dragon for the kids!
What does play mean to you? Share about your favorite play memory as a childPlay is when someone is given the opportunity to explore, imagine, and let loose completely dictated by what they want to do. My favorite memory of play as a child was exploring my grandparent’s garden, which surrounded the playhouse they built for me as their first grandchild. My childhood playhouse is one of my fondest memories of play.
Hello! My name is Raziel Hernandez, and I am from Panama! I study Chemical Engineering at the University of Arkansas, and Fall 2022 will be my last semester. I love biking and hiking. You can always find me on one of the NWA trails! I also love painting and photography in my spare time. From a very young age, I have always enjoyed science-related activities. Science fairs were always my favorite activities at school.
My name is Maddy Adkins. I am currently a Senior at the University of Arkansas, majoring in Elementary Education. I’m a part of the Elementary Education MAT program with a STEM specialty. Being a Tyson intern at the Amazeum allows me to spend time with kids and explore STEM activities. It’s the perfect summer internship to prepare me for and expose me to my future career. I love being at the Amazeum and spending each day doing all of the things I love. My hobbies include crafting, baking, taking pictures for Arkansas Athletics, and being a dog mom! On weekends you can find me watching Razorback Baseball, at the Farmer’s Market, with my dog Bentley, or in the kitchen baking something sweet for my coworkers.
Hi! My name is Taryn Boysen and I am so excited to work as a summer programs intern this summer! I will graduate from John Brown University in December with a bachelor's in Family and Human Services! I want to be someone that is always willing to help out and challenge myself to look at things from a different point of view. I chose to do this internship because I love getting to see how kids' minds work when they are challenged to do a task, and I love promoting critical thinking and allowing the children to express their creativity in their own ways.
