Summer Camps

Choose Your Own Adventure Summer

At the Scott Family Amazeum, the summer is all about you! We’ve designed two months of action-packed camps that allow you to choose your own adventure! Each day we’ll do a deep exploration of a kid-requested topic. With different themes, your child can customize a camp experience that fits their specific interests. Map out your AMAZING summer with one camp, several camps spread throughout the summer, or even an entire summer of new adventures. Amazeum Summer Camps are primarily designed for kids ages 6-11.

Summer Camp FAQs

For any additional questions not mentioned below, please contact our
Youth Engagement Manager, Natalie Booth, at nbooth@amazeum.org
or call (479) 696-9280, Ext. 253.

  • What ages are allowed to attend Amazeum camp at the Scott Family Amazeum?

The ages allowed for each camp are listed in the camp description. Generally, camps are for ages 6- 11.

  • What will campers do during an Amazeum camp?

During camp, children will engage in a variety of unique STEAM challenges and social play experiences. Each day's activities will combine focused mental and hands-on projects with kinesthetic learning and play. We design our camps to include structured activities, and unstructured free-play, taking advantage of both indoor and outdoor spaces to accommodate different learning styles and energy levels. The lunch break will occur in the middle of every camp day and children will have daily exploration time in the exhibit hall that will connect back to daily activities.

  • What will drop off and pick up look like?

Drop off and pick up will be curbside outside the Amazeum’s main entrance.

Drop Off: An Amazeum educator will meet you at your car with the sign-in sheet (no ID necessary). Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before the program begins. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late for drop-off, you will need to park and escort your child to the admissions kiosk in the Amazeum.

Pick Up: An Amazeum educator will meet you at your car to check your photo ID and have you sign out your kids. Kids will be waiting with Amazeum educators in the playscape until an Amazeum educator escorts your kids to the car.

  • We are early birds at our house. Is it okay if we arrive early for the camp?

Amazeum camps will begin promptly at the start time listed in the program description. Please arrive on time but no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the listed start time.

  • Is there a discount for Amazeum members?

Yes! Amazeum members enjoy a discount on Amazeum camp registration and early access to registration.

  • How do I sign up for an Amazeum camp?

You can sign up for the camp online through the Amazeum website. In the ‘Programs’ menu, select ‘Camps’ and follow the registration link to complete your registration and payment. Members need to login to receive the discount rate. If you are experiencing trouble with registration or do not have access to a computer, please call our Operations Assistant at 479-696-9280 opt. 5. or email reservations@amazeum.org.

  • Will I receive a confirmation of my registration?

Yes, the Amazeum will send you an email confirming your online registration. Please check your spam folder and inbox for the email confirmation.

  • Do I need to sign my camper in and out?

Yes, we require that an adult must escort their camper in and out each day. Only those who have been designated to sign out the camper may do so. Campers may not leave the Amazeum until a designated adult signs them out and provides ID. Your child's safety is our top priority; therefore, Amazeum educators strictly enforce Amazeum sign-in and sign-out procedures. Only adults identified on the registration form as authorized to pick up will be allowed to pick up your child. Please contact the Educational Programs Manager if you need to add or change an adult name. Adults picking up children will need to present photo identification.

  • How do you recommend children dress for an Amazeum camp?

Dress for fun, physical and potentially messy play. Closed toed shoes are recommended.

  • What is your policy on electronics?

We ask that all electronics including video game consoles, tablets, eReaders, and cell phones be left at home. If you wish to send your child to camp with a cell phone, please contact the Youth Engagement Manager, nbooth@amazeum.org to discuss options.

  • Should I pack a lunch for my camper to enjoy during Amazeum camp?

Yes! Participants are encouraged to bring a sack lunch, drink and/or water bottle, labeled with the child's name. Participants should also bring two snacks each day to keep energy up, one for the morning and one for the afternoon. Please bring nut-free foods due to potential allergies. The Amazeum will not provide lunch or snacks. Microwave and vending machines are not available. A refrigerator is available as needed.

  • Are you able to accommodate my child with medical allergies and/or special needs?

ALLERGIES: Amazeum encourages all campers to provide their own snacks, food and drinks due to food allergies. While the Amazeum educators are unable to guarantee that a camper doesn't bring an allergen into the camp space, the educators closely monitor the materials we use during activities. In the case of severe food allergies, please contact the Youth Engagement Manager, nbooth@amazeum.org, to discuss your child’s allergy and options to create a safe environment for your child.

SPECIAL NEEDS: Amazeum is committed to full and equal opportunity for children to enjoy the camp experience, and reasonable modifications will be considered. Please contact the Youth Engagement Manager, nbooth@amazeum.org, to discuss your child’s individual needs and modification options.

  • Who are the educators of Amazeum camps?

Our Summer Camp team come from a variety of backgrounds, but all are experienced in working with kids. All Programs Educators and Interns undergo training ahead of each summer camp season on topics including basic first aid, positive behavior management techniques, community building, and critical and scientific thinking. A Summer Camp team member will be actively present at all times during camp and extended care.

  • Do you offer extended care options?

Yes, extended care is offered before and after most Amazeum camps for families who need to drop off early or pick up late. Caregivers have the flexibility to drop off or pick up within the window of the times listed. Extended care is an opportunity for your child to have supervised but unstructured play time participating in activities of their choice. Your child can play outside (weather permitting), participate in games, stories and other indoor activity choices. Your child is also encouraged to bring their own non-tech items such as books, sketch pads or card games. Extended care in the afternoon will also include exploring Amazeum exhibits. An Amazeum summer camp team member will be actively present at all times during extended care.

  • What is the cost of extended care?

Extended care prices are per week. Partial registration is not available and a discount is not offered for children that cannot attend each day of extended care.

    Afternoon Only  (3 pm - 5:30 pm): $40 for Members, $45 for Non-Members

  • Can I attend an Amazeum camp with my child?

Amazeum camps are child drop-off programs. In order to foster a cohesive experience, Amazeum camps are for registered participants only; therefore, adult guardians and non-registered siblings or friends cannot attend.

  • Is it okay if we stay after the camp and play in the Amazeum?

Stay and play in the museum exhibit hall after camp! Campers get complimentary admission into the museum for the week of their camp. Any accompanying adults or children must pay regular admission. Please check in at the admissions desk before heading into the galleries to play. Children must be accompanied by an adult 18 or over at all times.

  • I need to cancel my registration. How do I cancel and can I get a refund?

The last day to receive a refund for camp registration is May 1, 2024. Please contact the Youth Engagement Manager, nbooth@amazeum.org. Please plan your schedule accordingly so that you can attend your selected camp.

  • Can I register for only part of the week, and if so, is there a discount?

Week long camps have each camp day structured to build upon the experiences of the previous camp day. Active participation and attendance of each camp day will ensure your child has a full camp experience. Partial registration is not available and a discount is not offered for children that cannot attend each camp day or each day of extended care.
