Meet Maggie Williams

July 6, 2021

Hi! My name is Maggie Williams and I am going to be a sophomore at the University of Arkansas this fall. I am majoring in Human Development and Life Sciences to become a Child Life Specialist one day.

This summer, I have the amazing opportunity to be a Summer Reading Program Intern at The Scott Family Amazeum! I am so excited for this summer to be able to bring so many fun programs focused around books to kids across northwest Arkansas. Our library programs give kids the opportunity to learn about the world in an exciting, hand-on experience. Summer reading programs are a way for books to come alive through different interactive activities that allow kids to use their imagination.

I am interested in this opportunity because I love being creative and having fun. This summer I am most excited to watch kids use their imagination and think about books in a fun and creative way!

One sweet girl was very nervous to be [at camp]. She was so excited to see her sisters after camp was over, so I suggested that we make three of our ‘little stuffies’, which is what we called our mythical creatures, for her three siblings. She absolutely loved that idea.

It’s great to see children start to solve problems on their own. Kids are so much prouder of themselves when they do finish a task that they kind of struggled with at first. I think it’s interesting to see how many different solutions they can come up with and how proud they are of themselves.
